Walk for Fun and Funds

mitologoIf you are looking for a fun way to be outside and contribute to a great cause, head into Boston this Saturday September 30, 2006, for the second annual Family Fun Walk sponsored by the the Mitochondrial Disease Action Committee .

Mitochondrial Diseases are genetic disorders of our bodies energy makers, the mitochondria. It is a complicated group of disorders affecting 1:3000-4000 individuals in the US. Unlike other genetic disorders, there is no one package of symptoms or road map for patients to follow. What has made a huge difference in the lives of mitochondrial disease patients is new advances in research and technology. Of course, money is needed to make these things happen. If you are into advocacy and out reach, this is a great group to help with.

This walk is for fun and funds. It will pull together an entire community of patients, doctors, friends and family while raising money to help improve the lives of those diagnosed with one of the mitochondrial diseases.
