Show # 7:
Today’s Teens and Alcohol: how one New England Town is getting the upper hand
Thursday 4/30/09, 7:30pm EST
In honor of Alcohol Awareness Month, keeping teens safe from the destructive dangers of alcohol (and drugs) is the focus of this week’s show.
Heidi Heilman, director of the Wayland Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition in Wayland, Massachusetts, will be joining me to discuss a very unique program in that has made an incredible impact on the parents and students in this community. Given some recent statistics in Wayland and the nation, this will be a show not to miss.
Wayland, by the way, has always been a trend setter in alcohol awareness education having founded SADD in 1982 after two teen alcohol-related driving deaths. We’ll talk about what’s happened in Wayland, the surrounding towns and nation since the 80′s, and help you keep your teens safe from the dangers of alcohol at home, and in your communities.
