There is a sort of kindred spirit among parents that can be wonderfully supportive. It can help other parents feel not so lost as they sort out issues with their own kids, regardless of age, and especially for first time and expectant parents.

I live in an area where there are some fun areas to walk to. To get to my favorite rehydrating spot, I have to first cross one sticky intersection.

How was your Father’s Day weekend? Ours was great fun.
We love baking so any holiday offers us a time to get creative and tap into our inner “Ace of Cakes” artistic selves. For mom-related holidays, my husband takes the reins and plots with the girls the cake du jour. For dad related-holidays, I’m on deck.

With this year’s school year ending and all the award ceremonies and talk of achievements and accomplishments, let’s talk stock that while some achievements merit that added not at a ceremony with a certificate and a hand shake, most others are harder to pin down and require us parents to point out.

It’s here again…high school graduation season. That annual rite of passage for high schoolers coast to coast to embark upon that much anticipated journey from home to that first true independent step outside the safety net of their childhood homes and communities.

We live in a society obsessed with outside beauty so it’s no wonder that parents whose children are born with any imperfection worry endlessly about how their child will be accepted in society. As parents, though, our job is to make sure our kids see themselves as much more than whatever obstacles are tossed their way, as tough as that may be.

My family has a tradition to give each a cute or whimsical calendar as one of our Christmas presents. The the goal is fun and laughter…to brighten each other’s day as we get through another year.
This year, my family found the “Getting In Touch With Your Inner Bitch” calendar and it is hysterical at times and thought provoking at others.
