WAYLAND , MA . February 7, 2006. Pediatrics Now today announced that www.pediatricsnow.com has been awarded Health on the Net Foundation's HON accreditation. The Health on the Net Foundation (HON) is a nonprofit Swiss foundation that provides accreditation to health sites that follow and uphold their 8 principles. By following the HON code of conduct, Pediatrics Now is demonstrating its commitment and dedication to providing accurate health information.

“To be granted HON Accreditation so soon after our launch is wonderful”, notes Dr. Gwenn. Pediatrics Now announced its official launch on January 20, 2006. In only one month's time, www.pediatricsnow.com has peaked the interest of local parents, pediatricians and health organizations with over 8000 hits since its launch. “The early feedback is very promising”, notes Dr. Gwenn. “We are definitely on the right track and have hit the nerve we aimed for. Now the real fun begins – to grow something that becomes part of the make-up of today's families. That's our ultimate goal and it certainly seems within our reach”.

Pediatrics Now was founded in 2005 by Gwenn Schurgin O'Keeffe, M.D., F.A.A.P. As a mother and pediatrician, Dr. O'Keeffe saw a void in consumer health information for today's busy families and began her quest to get practical health information out to as many local parents as possible. Since beginning this quest in 2000, Dr. O'Keeffe's health columns have appeared in the Burlington Union, Salem News, MetroWest Daily News, and the award winning Parents and Kids. In March 2006, Dr. Gwenn's Your Child's Health will expand to the Wayland and Weston Town Criers.

Dr. Gwenn is a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She currently practices urgent care pediatrics with Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. Dr. Gwenn is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed her pediatrics Internship and Residency at New England Medical Center in Boston , MA . She has taught at the Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago , Illinois , Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine.

www.pediatricsnow.com currently offers health information for parents and kids, useful health tools and charts, a list of recommended books, a question of the month posed by a reader, and an update on local health headlines. New features in development include a blog for parents, PediBlog, as well as an expanded page for kids and teens called KidZoneNewz which will also have a blog.
