Dr. Gwenn On NECN

Good morning! I just returned from my regular Family Health Segment with Karen Swensen on NECN’s Good Morning Live. Today we talked about
1. Breast Cancer: making sense of confusing studies
2. Child Abuse Awareness Month

Here’s a link to the video
and links for more information on all these topics:

Breast Cancer Information
In addition to my recent blogs posts, CNN’s Sanjay Gupta talked recently to a cancer specialist from Sloan-Kettering. The take home message: get your annual mammogram. Despite recent confusing studies, Dr. Norton told Dr. Gupta:

I — absolutely, to start at age 40 to do your annual mammograms or 10 years younger than your youngest first-degree relative. That’s a mother or a sister or a daughter with breast cancer. Those are our guidelines. American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. And we stand by them.

Child Abuse Awareness Month
Child abuse comes in many forms and spares no walk of life. The more we all know, the better we can identify a child at risk. Here’s the link to the official web site.

Tune in on April 23, 2007, for my next Family Health Segment on NECN.
